Last weekend, Team Politini was in full effect at the 2014 NY Lesbians Who Tech Summit, a two day summit filled with back to back innovative and captivating speakers, women “teching” it out for social good, and most importantly (and refreshingly) lesbians.
Why was this so refreshing? A story in the latest issue of Fast Company magazine did a little bit of coverage on f8—Facebook’s developers conference. This is what the conference (like most tech conferences, hackathons, and networking events) looked like: all. white. men.
Which is why the Lesbians Who Tech Summit was almost surreal but so profound in making a statement: We’re here, we’re queer, and we’re taking over the tech scene! And why Politini was so proud to be able to speak at this year’s summit. We brought our radio show to the live stage for a mini-episode of “Digitizing Democracy: Beat, Bytes and Bipartisanship.” The truth is if women can’t lead, then America can’t succeed. And if that’s the case, how is technology being used to support women in politics? Watch our mini-Politini LIVE at the Lesbians Who Tech Summit with guests Rachel Sklar and Kat Skiles as we discussed how to claim our power in the political tech sector, so that we can move women further to move democracy forward.
