Have you ever had one of those moments when your passion and your reality were in synergy, and you found yourself gleefully in complete balance?
Most of us rarely string those glorious moments together and live in “completeness” daily. Generally, when we’re in the midst of one moment we are often times longing for another moment to occur—or just plain texting through it and ignoring the present altogether.
There’s a saying “the only one who can block you from what you truly want is you”. I’ve never read a better phrase. I too am guilty of spending countless hours complaining that “I’m not getting to do what I really want to do” because there is just not enough time in the day for my passion (writing) and my reality (paying the bills).
Yet, regardless of this complaining I find time to write multiple times a week and stay employed. I’ve found a way to unconsciously “connect the dots” to get me from where I am to where I want to be. Now, the real work comes into consciously making choices that help us better connect our dots purposefully and meaningfully.
When we look at our desires as a roadmap instead of a dead end we can create a range of possibilities to get us to our preferred destination. Think about it. Are you where you want to be right now? If so, kudos to you. If you’re not, look at your map—how did you get there?
Life is made up of a series of events. The only ones we have little say in are when we’re born and when we’re going to die. Moreover, what we can and do have power over is the living that happens in between.
Are you living? Or are you just moving with the flow? Living is a conscious act.
One of our greatest challenges, as one of my favorite quotes by Marianne Williamson reminds us, is recognizing that we are “powerful beyond measure” and that it is “our light, not our darkness that most frightens us”.
It’s easier to be unhappy and go with the flow rather than work to connect your desire to your current reality. Complaining about how other people “got it easy” and “if you were them…” this kind of thinking takes us away from our true purpose and leaves us driving around in “mental circles” rather than connecting us to our true selves.
When we live in our light, and show up whole to each day, we begin the journey to completeness one dot and moment at a time.
